Not sure what it's actually referred to as, but underneath the engine is a big black cover that is supposed to protect the engine from damage by debris thrown up from the road......

Mine came away from the car yesterday and is now somewhat damaged. It's held on by a number of screws that turn and latch in place (as opposed to actually screwing in), and as such they seem quite prone to coming adrift ( a comment made by my dealer a few weeks back).

Has anyone else had problems like this, either with the cover coming partially adrift, or coming away altogether?

John ;)

Well I guess not..... [)]

My damaged one has now been replaced by the dealer. On the EV2 forum there are a few people who have suffered the same fate as me though!

John ;)

I know it had come away from my Mondeo about 2 years ago, but that is Ford so expected no different!

As far as am I concerned, mine still intact on the Ulysse :)

I took mine in for recall work yesterday, including engine cover, and they told me that there wasn't one there - just one bolt left! Since I only bought the car three weeks ago (04 plate) I need to get back to the garage which sold it.

A couple of questions, if anyone can help...

If its been without the cover for quite a while, is there likely to be any damage to look out for?

When was the cover recall issued - in other words should the selling garage have known about it before 14th October?

Thanks.

Hi, old thread but doesn't matter (y)

Yes, I am sure the selling garage would have known before then! We had the Ulysse serviced end of September, and the recall work for the tray was done then.

Thanks Stuart for the info. I'll get on to the garage.

I received a recall on 5th October for this and a drain from the a/c unit. I had heard on this site that some members had theirs fall off, and mentioned it to my dealer. After a quick check he told me mine was still in place but said he would of replaced it if it had been missing, as it is a known fault.

He also told me this gaurd was for sound deadening not for protecting the engine.
