| I got a phone call at work yesterday afternoon from my wife to say that the fan was still going on our ’05 Ulysse diesel – over an hour after she got home. By the time I returned from work another hour after her call it was still whirring away. By this time I couldn’t get the car to start/lock/windows to move = nearly dead battery. At this point she did tell me that she had a warning message in the morning saying something like ‘low coolant level’ or similar. After disconnecting the battery, topping up the coolant (it wasn’t at the min level to start with) re-connecting the battery and starting with a booster everything seemed ok. We used the car last night to get the battery charged and used the car this morning and it seems that so far the fan stops when the engine is turned off. I will give the garage a call today to get them to take a look – but has anyone else had this happen or know what I should get the garage to most likely look at? Any info gladly accepted. Thanks Matt

| Re: Fan on all the time hi, i haven't heard of this on the ulysse but i have heard about it on 307 deisels and in that case it was the fan temp sensor, the engines are pretty much the same. regards paul

| Re: Fan on all the time It's normally a bi-metal switch in the rad that is used to detect the water is over temp and switch on the fan. Most likely the contacts arced shut and it jammed on. I'd get the switch replaced as it's not that expensive and if it's done it once it may do it again.

| Re: Fan on all the time Just a quick update Car was in at the dealers yesterday - they could find no fault at all. They apparently updated the software for the ECU - don't quite know what version etc. but they gave me back two sides of A4 with various codes on. I'll maybe take a look later. Fingers crossed I guess... Thanks for the replies Matt
