Glad to see a place which is truly Fiat , i have just bought 1988 Fiat regata 85 stock 1.5L engine everything is original on it and i'm seriously planning for a turbo project on it
I need your help guys to recommend a turbo engine swaps .

Thanks
Amr

The most obvious turbo-engine swaps are Uno turbo or Punto gt1 engines, since these engines are derived from the same lampredi sohc engines.

However, your current engine lends itself very good to conventional 'old-school' tuning, which, in the end, might lead to a much more entertaining driving (better throttle response, continuous power increase with revs, no turbo lag).
Please search the net internet fort lampredi sohc tuning, before you ditch this gem for a turbo project.
With conventional tuning (in this case: electronic ignition with high rev-limit, 4-2-1 exhaust (might already be there) and twin choke webers or quadruple throttle-bodies) will probably give you already about 120hp.
And then there is still a lot more possible with 1.6-tipo/tempra engines, 16v-heads, thorough porting, cams, ...

I do not know hoe big the differences are beteren a 85- and a 100-version (with the lampredi dohc-engine), but i expect too big to consider this as an option.
That would clear the way for a whole new range of options, including the 2L (a kind of regata 130TC), or a factory-fitted turbo-charged version of this engine, possible with a bigger/more modern turbo.
