Hey all!
Long time reader, first time poster =)
I own a 2000 mk1 seicento, swapped with a mk1 1.2 16v, with denso iredium sparks, low resistance cables, and a supersprint exhaust.

Because of the SS exhaust I had some clearance issues with the waterhoses, so I swapped them with the mk2 waterpipe (front of the engine) and hoses which came with a x cross in the main hose. This allowed me to to turn away from the exhaust so I have proper clearance now. The problem now however is that there is always some tension on my hises and I have to replace the bent that comes from the waterpipe every 6 months.

I have been looking into these "race" hoses but they dont make them the way I want to so i decided to go and build my own cooling route. Now my question is if I can simply re-route the hoses from my expension can thingy, and the hoses that go to my heater towards the back of the engine, or are there some flow issues that I have to keep in mind?

Thanks!

Stefan, you'll have no flow issues.

A long long time ago I used to do pointless things like fitting 3500cc V8 engines into cars that didn't have V8 engines .. which meant altering the radiators, the length and shape of the hoses ..

Your water pump and cooling system in general won't be affected.

Hi Glenn, and thanks for the info!
I was looking into buying some bends and straights from QSP, and creating some custom stainless steel coupler pieces with a lathe for a perfect fit. As for the flow question, so it basicaly doesnt matter where I connect all the hoses?

Cheers!

Thanks! And just to give you an idea of how I have it right now, here are 2 pics of before and after I replaced the hoses with the MK2 ones including MK2 waterpipe

to give you an idea of how I have it right now

That looks absolutely perfect (y)

Thing is, unless somebody has actually tried doing it themselves they probably don't realise how 'fiddly' it can be. If you haven't already done so, leave the radiator cap off, set the heater control to hot and let the engine tick over until the thermostat opens - bleed any air out of the cooling system.

You've done it. It doesn't matter what it looks like - it works!;)

it works, for now haha...
Problem is that the top hose cracks every couple of months because of the tension. What I wanna achieve is to only have 2 hoses towards the radiator, and the rest moved out of sight (as far as possible haha). Ill probably go look at some random japanese cars that most of the time have this type of setup, and get myself some inspiration

Alright, so gettinf back at this. Here are a couple of more ideas that im playing with.

I wanna start by removing the expension can completely, and replace my radiator with one from a punto. I havent figured out which one yet, but either the mk1 or mk2 has the expension part on the left side, with both connections on the same side. This should allow me to only use 2 hoses directly from the engine to the radiator (leaving the in car heating out for now*), move my radiator in front of the gearbox, and mave some more clearance in front of the engine itself.

* im a warm blooded guy, so im used to not using heaters =p in case it turns out i cant handle the winter cold, i can always use 2 simple T joints that lead towards the in car heater element.

More info as I get allong!
