hi guy`s

i have a 1993 1.6 i.e sx
i`m asking about an engine swap
i`m looking for a fiat engine like 1.8 or 2.0 L
that have the same mounts like my tipo
i want to make a direct swap
or maybe i can replace the head, mainfold ......... and keep my block
i`m hoping to get much accleration/speed but we don`t have 1.8 or 2.0 tipo/tempra engine`s
the cars available in our market that i can find engines for are :
fiat brava, regata , ritmo, croma and any car in the 80`s era

please help
thanx all

As i said to you a few days ago, there are no engines with the same 1600 SOHC mounts you can swap. You told me it is law there, so its impossible to convert.

Andy.:)

Hi
Would you be happening to still be taking that engine out at this point?
Because if so i would be interested in buying the Crankshaft from you..
You can messege me at [email protected] if you are interested

i forgot all about this thread

i did some research, found some 1.8L and 2.0L engines from fiat in the market
but no swap was made due to poor condition of the engines and lack of other parts like the suspension and the CV joints
still searching .....

yah and the 1,8 2,0 has a monunting point in the righthand tower! go get a regrind camshaft, and get a higher CR. mount some multipoint injection together with megasquirt (engine manigement) would say you could get 110hp or something.

or move the entire thing over from the uno turbo/punto

there are lancia engines 2.0 L that are fitted without any mods in tipo i just bought a 1.6 8v mpi engine from ezbet shalaby for my fiat 127 there was alot of 1.8 and 2.0 liters there.
if i where you i would turbo charge it you can find cheap turbos @ herafein i bought one for 550 LE its a sabb te05 turbo and buy an intercooler and you will have 100 % more power without changing engines.

I always thought that fitting the 90hp 1.6 8V MPI engine from the Mk1 Punto Sporting/ELX would be great for the 1.4 or 1.6 Tipo - I believe they are basically the same engine but the Punto version is a lot more powerful and responsive.

Did anyone ever do this?

OMG, after 4 years :D

hey adam, nice to see an enthusiast from around here ;)

well, since 07 i`ve seen lots and lots of engines
found out that there`s a number of engines that could fit a tipo
i didnt go for the swap, spare parts is a nightmare and for me, i cant live off second hand parts, and if find it new you know the prices :bang:

i went the easy way, removed my CAT, fitted a sport air filter, played with the potentiometer a little ( wrong but i did it anyway ) ,i`m running it a bit rich for a while now and with the right throttle control i got myself a little bit faster car and i blow off some higher end cars :slayer:
