I have an M reg 1.9TDSX with a problem i cannot work out. ANY help would be gratefully recieved.

Firstly the battery is probably goosed, but not wanting to buy another until know for sure thats the fault. Occasional slipping of alternator belt but otherwise fine. Now the problem.

When the car starts, it runs lumpy (and dies after few seconds) unless accelerator is pressed and revs kept to around 2.5k at which point it dies after 10seconds or so. Can't see anything immediately wrong or blocked.

Would the battery have anything to do with this problem? Have been told something about a fuel solanoid needs power and if Battery was shot this would shut resulting in engine death?

Many thanks

Ross

a sticky solanoid on the diesel pump would result in not a lot of diesel getting to the engine it needs a full 12volt to work try jump leads from a mates car see if that helps but it could be a blocked pipe /air getting into the system try the small bits of pipes to the ingectors(y)

With the above in mind i think it's got to be the battery not giving the diesel pump enough juice. Have checked all pipes i can see and all appears good. Will replace battery and post results.

Many thanks again guys
