Could anyone advise if the 1.4 and 1.6 engines respectively (which I believe in Mk1s had carburettors and Mk2s had single point fuel injection) are otherwise identical lumps pre and post the change to injection? In other words the carburettor feed was simply exchanged for fuel injection with a CAT added? Or is it more fundamental than that? Excuse my ignorance:shakehead::shakehead: I'm on a learning curve here...any confirmation would be appreciated.

As far as I remember from the 1.4 Formula we once owned and the 1.4 i.e.we now have the engine itself is identical. Only changes I can see are the obvious ones you mention re fuel, cat and ignition system plus hydraulic clutch operation instead of cable and addition of power steering. A few minor items, such as radiator bottom hose, are a bit different but pretty well all the mechanical stuff was not altered and older parts still seem to fit.
