Did anyone see this?

This car appeared on Ebay only fleetingly. The asking price was quite high but it looks in very good condition.....I wonder who bought it - anyone on here?

Just seen this post now.

I went to look at it as Italicar is local to me. Here's a picture of it with my 16v, and a 3 door 16v that Italicar also had in for restoration (quite a gathering of sedicivalvoles!!)

Italicar was inundated with interest in it. People were fighting over it, and it sold the day it was put up for sale, to the first person that came to see it. So the price must have been fair!!

Re: Did anyone see this?

Adam,

Thats a great picture of the 3 cars together - yours looks very sharp by the way!

Perhaps the Sedic's time has finally come re values or for some reason there has been some serious interest - based on what I have seen over the last couple of years I still think that price is high (but good if you are the seller).

The most I have seen one sell for prior to this was a white 5 door that was also mint - went for about 2300 I believe
.

Time to go and give mine a polish I think!!

Maybe in 2017 we can get a few more cars together to mark 25 years since it went on sale in the UK........

MIKE

Re: Did anyone see this?

yes, it was nice to see three together. here's a couple of other pics - shame it was such a grey day though!

I think it's very hard for the market to set a value on such a rare car - they just don't change hands very often. Don't forget this car was a retail sale too, which adds to its value a bit. It's encouraging that this one attracted so much interest at that price. I should add it wasn't mint, though, and wasn't advertised as mint.

I would be really up for a Tipo get together next year - it's a great idea! There's about 7 or 8 around that I'm aware of, but I don't know any other owners.

Re: Did anyone see this?

Maybe something at Auto Italia would work as there is also a strong FF presence there as well.

In the past there has also been a good turn out at Luton Show.

Lovely cars Adam! My 1.4 is a bit more of a workhorse but I can't think of any car that I would rather have as my daily driver.

Re: Did anyone see this?

I love mine, only a 1.4 but what was bought as a stopgap car has turned into a keeper. It's great fun for what it is. I'd be interested in a more general meet up some time, maybe for the 30th anniversary in 2018?

Re: Did anyone see this?

What killed most Tipo 16v cars, was the dreaded block problem. Around number 2 Conrod/ crank, a tiny piece of the block corner would breakaway, and be sucked up towards the camshaft, blocking the oilway. This lead to the bearing seizing on the crank, and one knackered engine. Many a 16v, and Lancia models, were scrapped, because of this. I have two 16 V's do this on me, even though I religiously maintained them. Only affected 16 V blocks. 8 valve blocks are bomb proof.
Each engine was stripped, and both had the same blockage. Guy Croft, and other Italian engine builders, have noted this. Guy sorts the problem out on his builds. A quick grind around the areas. Stop the blockages.
