Bought my 1.4 S i.e yesterday. Drove it 130 miles home and loved every minute. Realised again what a really great car the Tipo is and how much I missed owning one. Looking forward to starting work on it once the gardening season is over! Many thanks to Forum members for helping me make this fine decision.

Oh dear. Will do my best but a bit high tech for me. That's why I got a Tipo!

Finally managed to take some photos after getting back from holiday and starting a bit of work on my Tipo. So far have concentrated on getting wipers and washers working properly - front wiper arms repainted and fitted with new Bosch blades. New rear wiper fitted and washer tube blown through to clear blockage, replaced faulty non return valve. Also took off front windscreen valance, cleaned out what looked like years accumulation of pine needles, stretched rubber seal using hairdryer to close large gap at ends.
This week, have clayed bodywork and used Chipex kit to touch up paint chips and road rash, followed by full waxing. Think it looks good for a 21 year old car, despite the colour not being one I would have chosen. Would you believe V5 says it's green? Going in on Thursday for new clutch and full underbody stripping, waxoyling etc. then alloy wheel refurb before coming back to me to start systematic overhaul of everything else. Repairs to worn and torn driver's seat covering are also on the list when my local upholstery man can fit it in.
Loving every bit of it so far!

Looks like a fabulous example, well done....

If you're going to town underneath the car I'd definitely suggest taking the bumpers off and rustproofing the structures underneath. Seems like you already know most of the problem areas like the scuttle etc.

Check the 4 rear subframe body mounts, they do fail but replacements from FirstLine / Borg $ Beck are available.

The car looks grey to me, like the famous Montalbano Tipos!

Thanks for the compliments. Hope the underside doesn't reveal any dark and rusty secrets! Colour code is 624 Greenstone Metallic. It looks like a dark grey with perhaps a smidgeon of green in the mix. Seems greener when wet or in shade. It is growing on me, honest. Thinking of getting some red bumper stripes to give a bit of colour to the black slab effect also having the alloys done in silver instead of grey which should look brighter. Fitted new head unit today so can play my cd's. Removed and thoroughly cleaned rear light fitment which cured intermittent no show of n/s indicator. Looked sound inside rear wing but will definitely have bumpers off as suggested.
Any good ideas for re-covering frontseat would be most welcome. Rear and passenger side should be fine with a good clean but cloth is well gone on driver's side.

The Lancia Delta alloys look pretty good on it, classic silver might lift the car a bit but then you'd have to keep them clean....

What colour interior does it have? Blue / Red check? Or the beige check?

You can make a huge improvement to the audio by changing the speakers, I've got some spare Italian Fenners that I tried (unsuccessfully!) to shift through the classifieds a little while back...

According to the handbook, the light is an injection system malfunction warning. I'm happy with that so long as it goes off when I start the engine! Seat colour is the blue and red check. Am thinking of either getting tailored covers or having the worn (blue) bits recovered in something as close as possible to the original. Thanks for the tip re alloys. I have always liked the Delta wheels and these would be a good swap if mine don't look good when repainted. Will send some pics when done.

have a look on partsworld for an original seat fabric.., ;)
you never know.
they had a classic panda fabric dash for @£10 last time I looked..

TBH - I think it'd be worthwhile getting a good relationship with a Polish FIAT forum ( for example), and ship the Excellent "passenger covers" from the respective markets.

could keep older cars looking A1 for decades..

A very heartening sight and well done. Whilst the bumpers can look nice with a half colour on, the all grey bumpers on your example are certainly pleasing to my eye, and generally greys suited a Tipo What method did you use to blow through the line to clear the jet?

Thank you for your kind comments. I used nothing but good old fashioned lung power! Took off rear wiper and straightened tube at each end then just blew hard. Pushed last bit of crud out with blast from newly cleaned washer bottle and pump motor with end jet still detached. Works fine now. Couldn't manage to get washer bottle out of car without removing wheel arch liner and/or front wing but syphoned it empty and flushed clean quite successfully. Meanwhile, underbody restoration progressing slowly but surely at Allitalia Wrexham. No holes or unseen rot but think we only just caught the subframe before surface rust became terminal. Fitting new trailing arms and brake discs while at it. Will post some pics asap.

I could never have imagined that worked. But clearly it does ! As per BlueJohn says, the back of the boot floor at the corners and rear valance is a rot spot, as is behind the rear wings. Look forward to seeing more pictures and updates. As you say it's more grey compared to green, as I think I saw it for sale, and IMO grey always looks good on a Tipo + slab sides even better.

Got the underside stripped, treated and sealed. Took a lot of effort but well worth it now. Found a nice hole under the n/s wing just as Jonti described but managed to get the subframe looking like new, thanks to Allitalia. So glad all this was caught in time. Another year and the rot would probably have gone too far.
Had a bit of a shock today when I checked the rear brakes. Leading shoe lining worn down to bare metal and drums well beyond salvation. Another urgent job to add to the list but getting there, I hope!
