Has anyone replaced the clutch on a Tipo TD? WM says engine out job but wondered if dropping the subframe would give enough clearance to drop the box with the engine in situ. Looks a mother of a job either way. Thanks. Harry

Different question. Has anyone used an engine support beam on a Tipo? The flimsy outer wing is not well supported by the inner wing. Does not look like it would support any weight. Looks like making a clutch job even more difficult!

I did try this once with a beam but I wasn't successful. I can't remember exactly but I seem to think it was something to do with not being able to get enough leverage/room to force the gearbox off the side of the engine. I only had axle stands so not easy access. I remember thinking at the time, if I try that again I will simply drop the engine and gearbox together and split them on the ground. I've dropped the engine and gearbox before without moving the subframe - however you need to take the radiator out and you need a hoist. Never used my beam since lol, I don't where I put the feet but it was fine.

I've always used the 2 trolley jack method, never had a g-box out on my TD's,

but didn't look much tighter then on the petrols:)

did a crank change in situ on the Tempra 2.0;)engine still in - box out:D

jonti/varescrazy thanks for your input. Apologies for my tardy response but just returned from a three week trip abroad.

Thought that I might drop the subframe and then reasses the situation. However, dropping the engine/box with the subframe still in place is something that I hadn't considered. Would save a lot of dismantling
