Hi,

I have a L reg Fiat Tipo 1.4ies and ive got a problem with the clutch pedal in that it goes down on its on asteem with only little pressure. It goes all the way down to the floor but doesnt actually engage the clutch, ie i can be driving on the motorway with the clutch fully on the floor (without realising) and im not 'coasting' as im still in gear.

Its got to the point now its undrivable as i cant get my foot under the clutch to pick it up anymore as its fully on the ground. Ive taken it to a Fiat garage and ive been quoted £400, If thats the case i will scrap the car as its not worth the cars value. Has anyone got any suggestions, Please?

Regards,
Hannah

thats why i asked if it was hydraulic.very common problem with dead pedal to the floor.new slave cylinder approx £20.

Its a hydrolic system, It goes on its own to the floor and the clutch does not dis-engage. Im gonna change the master cylinder as suspect there must be a type of non-return valve that is letting by (ie letting oil return to header tank). Does this sound feasible?

Thanks

change the slave cylinder on the gearbox.if you look at it carefully, you will see it wet with fluid. (y)

www.shop4parts.co.uk for your cylinders. Change the master as priority, and slave if it looks rough. Had same problem in both my tipo's - solved by changing both.
Then broken by Mr Clutch - Car is juddery and feels rough. Would have to be something longer than a barge pole that I would dare touch them with again.
in the trade, they have a terrible name.they resurface clutches and offer a guarantee.try claiming on it! :bang:
