Hello, i have Fiat Tempra 1996 engine 159B9000 1.6 (90 BHP)
I am looking for a way to increase the power of this engine by 10-15 HP
I have a pretty healthy engine, a week ago I did compression test - 195,197,197,197 PSI with throttle fully open, and it doesn't consume oil at all (i use 10w-40).

i did a research on a turbo kit and its too expensive for me....
now i see a chip tuning on ebay that connects to some kind of air sensor but it cost about 100$, is it worth it? did you tried it on your Tipo,Tempra?
overall the car runs pretty good, but when i use air condition and i use it 80% of the time i feel that lack of power...
do you have any idea?

I think if you have a late build Tempra 1.6 with 90 hp then you are probably at the limit of normal power for this engine... I think Fiat fitted the Multipoint injection to get 90 HP, before with the single point the 1.6 had very low power. The 1.6 90 hp was used in the early Punto Sporting models.

Maybe somebody will do a better camshaft that will work with the ECU, and you can find a better panel air filter.

Hey there, this is kinda old post, but I'm looking for the same thing, I have a 1.6 but with a carburettor, and amasingly I manage to found the intake of the 1.6mpi, have the inyectors, mas sensor, O2 sensor, air temp sensor and currently working on a MegaSquirt, need to buy some wiring and start the build-up, but everything cost time and money, try not to give up with your projects, this engine in south america have a lot of research so I'm assuming that there to, if you want to go throu the N/A road, you can look for a more agressive camshaft, enhance the intake and exhaust, maybe that way you can get some more power, good luck with that and update your post if need anything.

Find a 16 Valve head, and turn the engine from OHC to DOHC......
