Hi everybody,

My recently purchased Tipo has the electronic controls for the air conditioning and heating, and I suspect its behavior is not normal.

Whenever I turn off the ignition switch, all the lights (LEDs) on the climate control panel turn off (including the LED near the off button). So far it looks logical to me.

What does not look right to me is the fact that whenever I start the car (i.e. turn the ignition switch on) the climate control panel comes on with the following settings: Fully automatic (both LEDs near the auto button are on), economy light on, temperature at 24 degrees, and air distribution directed to the windshield.
It does not matter what the system was set to before I turned the ignition switch off, whenever I turn it on it forgets everything and goes into these settings.

This is annoying for two reasons:
1. Whenever I start the car, if I do not want any air conditioning or heating, I have to press the off button to turn the system off.
2. Whenever I start the car, if I do want air conditioning or heating, I have to press a bunch of buttons to set it to the desired temperature, air direction, fan speed etc. since it does not remember any of the last settings used.

Just to make things clear, when the system is on, if I press the off button it does turn off (only the light near the off button is on), and pressing the off button again brings it back to life with the PREVIOUS SETTINGS, which looks normal.
It’s when I turn the ignition off and then back on that things behave funny.

I was told by some people that when the ignition switch is turned on, the system should come up into the off state (only the light near the off button should be on), and that if I then press the off button the system should come up with the previous settings used at the time the ignition switch was switched off.

Other people say that when the ignition switch is turned on, the system should come up into the off state (only the light near the off button should be on), and that if I then press the off button the system should come up with it’s default settings (24 degrees, auto, economy and air directed at the windshield).

The problem is that none of the above mentioned people have a Tipo (or a Tempra).

Can anybody with the same system in their car please tell me how it is supposed to behave?

Thanks,
Benjamin

I have converted the instructions into a PDF file - it explains it all very clearly, with diagrams... attached....

Yeah, saw that I could add attachments after my initial post - you are on the job, Stuart! ;)

Hi FIXIT.

I have these instructions (they are part of the Porter manual) but as you can see they do not say how the system should act when I turn the ignition on.

In short my question is not answered by these instructions!

It should be very easy to answer by somebody who has the same system in their car.

Thanks for posting the instructions for everybody though.

Benjamin
