Tipo V6 Project

Hello again,

I might have sourced a low milage croma V6 engine with gearbox and all other parts for a budget price. The goal is, when the deal goes, to use sedici due for this project. If anybody has remarks concerning specificly a build like this it is greatly appriciated.

Does anybody know if:

It drops right in, like the alfa 155 one
It can adapt the 166 6 speed gearbox

I've let the plans for the Tipo 8.32 go , it would take too much welding so this would be it than.

Thanks to all in advance

Re: Tipo V6 Project

is the croma V6 a 3.0 or 2.5? i think it's not quite as straight forward as that. i strongly suggest you sign up to this 155 forum http://www.alfa155.org/forum/index.php where 3.0 V6 conversions have been done, as well as the 6 speed, being the same bodyshell effectively, and a fair bit of knowledge especially on the V6 side of things.

Re: Tipo V6 Project

mmmm its bassicly the alfa V6 12V 2.5 lump so it will fit, probably have to rip the gearlinkage out of a 155 though. It is still unsure if i can have the parts i need for the conversion, if so, ill post my findings here.

Re: Tipo V6 Project

when fitting a 164 V6 into a 155, waterways need re-routing, and chasis legs need altering apparently!

unless you're going for 3.0 a 155 2.5 would be the better choice?

Re: Tipo V6 Project

Well, my goal is to use the croma v6 but the seller isn't sure he can part from the parts yet. He has a croma for sale with a bad gearbox and subframe and he's to busy to replace the parts for the ones i've bid on. He will now put the car up for scrap / donor sale without the parts, if it goes, the parts are mine. If it doesn't go i might be better of with a Q4 or turbo project....

Re: Tipo V6 Project

I wonder for how much a sedicivalcole inlet cam would sell. Anyone got a price idea (euro's)? I've got a coupe driving friend who's interested.

Re: Tipo V6 Project

Well thank you Rich. I won't be selling it for that price and get stuck with an otherwise useless engine. Ill store the engine as a replacement might Sedici 1 die. Ofcourse after i have got the engine revived and up and running with your parts Rich !

I been driving all day to get the V6 croma home. It is in my shed now and looking a little less new than the previous picture. This is it for now, i'll digg this topic back up as soon as i start with the transformation from sedicivalvole to seidodici.

Next thing is to take the interior from sedici due out and give it a clean and getting it ready for transportation to the UK !

Re: Tipo V6 Project

Arno you know you can sell both cams as inlets from 5 door, they have Identical timing and can fit on the inlet of and 16v. I ran an exhaust cam for an inlet before buying the full race cam.

Re: Tipo V6 Project

I actually didn't know that ! Still i see no need to sell either one of the cams.

Re: Tipo V6 Project

Yeah that would really make it go but no option at first though.

To get the vehicle road legal after adding 2 cilinders like i'll do i have to keep within a range of max 30% power increase. So i can't go over 192.4 Hp at the wheels, no need for that either with 160+ Hp standard and 216Nm of torque, combine that with the 6 speed gearbox and it'll go ! If i go over that there will be additional tests like road handeling (breaking and cornering...duh). As soon as the power is approved there will be a new set of vehicle documents made in which the number of cilinders and displacement will be. Also i can name the new creation to my own preferences, so the car will be officially known as Fiat Tipo Seidodici. I'll have badges made in thema 8.32 style(3D), not in yellow/chome but red/black(matching the striping), saying 6.12 for the front fenders and a transparant red decal saying seidodici for the rear, not to forget, a grille badge aswell.

I'm not sure wheather the croma had the immobilizer or keycode back then, that is on my todo/check list in eper. If so i'll use a megasquirt or similar setup, in this way i'll be able to get it set up to the required values for the test and tune it easily later.
