I dunno where you find the time Rich!

I've done nothing for the milkbottle apart from atempt to source an idle valve. Nearly got one in Italy at a breakers yard but they wouldn't split the engine and wanted 500 euros for it.

Re: what have you done for her lately

taxed it this morning and went out for a spin, but anywhere near 6000rpm and a squealing starts, coming from the location of the heater tap (which is a new part) i'm hoping it's just a loose connection somewhere, pissed off if it's the tap again

on the plus side it's great to be driving it again

Re: what have you done for her lately

i think i have found the leak i think it's the rear light, the seal was a bit rubbish so i've used plenty of vaseline on it to hopefully seal it. only thing is that on the lights only the top screw screws up tight? the rest hold it but keep going round and not eventually stopping??

also pissed off a boy racer in a focus by sticking to his rear bumper all the time except when he broke the speed limit lol. but always caught up with him at mini roundabouts and junctions wasn't even trying to be honest lol.

Re: what have you done for her lately

all cars are girls, they cost you a fortune, they can get you mad enough to punch a wall and they only look good when they have got there slap on (polish) lol
True. But I figured as the diesel is smelly, noisy, uncouth and with power but no finesse it was a He.

Having had the gearbox recond and refitted by a garage I've had to fix the inevitable collateral damage no reversing lights and damaged gloplug wiring and reapplied copper ease to the mounting screws so they don't weld themselves to the mounts.

As the recon gearbox didn't solve the vibration problem I fitted a new rear mount damper from Fiat at outrageous cost (strangely with a Renault logo like the old one, which has helped.

Gearstick changed. Thanks to the FAST guys who put up with a pig of a job for little reward. Gear changes are now a pleasure, no stiring around for a gear, no wobbling and best of all no up and down movement! From looking at the replaced part it looks like it wasn't long away from falling through!

Re: what have you done for her lately

removed glove box again, to see that the leak is between the new tap and the heater matrix, which is a pain but hopefully not too difficult to fix. taken the tap off and drained the coolant into a bucket. leaving it over night to cool down again, going to try sorting it out tomorrow morning. may need to use some sort of seal on it luckily i've got a new sealing ring anyway which i didn't use last time like i probably should of. i think i've got a problem with one of the bolts though but i'll see how it goes.
