Hi,

recenlty my cabine fan failed to work, unless I put the switch to full speed. I suspect switch failure, I can replace it myself as I took a look how it is made. Question is, is it possible that something else is broken and how expensive is that switch ?

Cheers

This will very likely be the variable resistor failing. I cant tell you exactly where it is on the tipo as I dont have one, but it shouldnt be too hard to locate. I've done this on the punto and its a piece of cake

Stick your head underneath the passenger side and have a look at the black plastic fan boxes.

This is what the resistor looks like when removed. You are looking for a plug which plugs into the bottom of this that has two silver screws either side of it as the holes show on the picture. (the green bit will be physically hidden inside the casing hence the arrow pointing upwards)

Arrow in the above pic is where the connector block plugs into the resistor.

Once it's out, go to local scrappy and get one from a tipo. Chances are they are all interchangable (from mk1 punto, uno, etc). Would advise you check that the fiat you take it from has the same number of fan speeds as the one your tipo does, as some puntos had 1 - 4 speeds but mine had 1 - 3.

Hope this helps:)

Thx !!!! I found it as you described and it looks like that one (black) wire is poorly conected and cousing bad contact. I pushed it in a little and it started to work again. I will see how can I fix it. Can you disconect wires from it ? As it seems the conector is stuck on the resistor.

Thx
