Question 2.0 8v Belt????

Hi All,
Started to strip and clean up the 2.0 8v today
and noticed a double sided toothed belt had snapped!!
Not being too familiar with the newer type Twin-Cam,
Can some one tell me what the belt is and where i can get one please,
Thanks
Darren

Re: 2.0 8v Belt????

Dazzo - The picture you have put up is of the balancer shaft belt. This spins the opposite way to the cambelt - it gives a smoother feel to the engine. I don't know much about the 8v engine in the Tipo Grandturismo but assuming it is the same as ion the Sedicivalvole you will probably have to go to Fiat for one. Alternatly you could try Tanc Barrett - they advertise in Auto italia.

I thought you were going to break this car - or have I missed something?

You get to talk to GC?

I would imagine he doesn't use the balancers to avoid the slight loss of performance plus it's an extra belt to go snap and break the camshaft. They should be locked in place though.

Pointless if power is what you're after. But it does smooth out the engine if you want a refined driving experience.

Re: 2.0 8v Belt????

It cancels out some of the vibrations. Not sure how but when the father in laws was fitted 90 degrees out the thing was shaking all over until it got to Walkers and was corrected.

Lesson learnt. Don't let any old garage do important jobs on your complex beastie!

Not sure how the shafts are locked. Sedicirich has had it done on his racing Tipo.
