Technical Tired 1.2 petrol engine and gearbox...what are the options?

Hello all

Really enjoying the forum. Have had a few fiat's over the years. A seicento sporting. Punto . Two stilos and now just got a doblo to trundle about in


But its a little slow and tired so in my brain it made sense to ask if anyone has swopped out the doblo 1.2 and replaced it with another petrol fiat/ alfa engine and box and if this would be possible at all? Anyone with experience to share? Many thanks. Joe

Meant to add.... 2004 1.2 active 5speed. 140k on the clock. Short gearing is wearing on my head

The Brazilians put a 2.0l coupe turbo engine in one and went rallying, so anything’s possible!

The 1.4 is thirsty..

Possibility of a 75/85 bhp 1242 16v from punto sporting..and its 6 speed box?

Depends how much 'work' you want to do

These donor cars are cheap now..

All the parts to carry over following the drive home

Thank you. I'll keep a look out for a punto/stilo 1.2. Aftrt I fix a few crusty bits above the spare wheel
