hi all, iv had to change the engine ecu but am unable too start the car. the car seems locked and key warning light stays on. i have fiat examiner but seem unable too to find on the machine how to code the ecu in.(old ecu put back on starts the car). is the new unit faulty or do you have too code it in, if so whats the proceedure and where on examiner is the folder too do this. like punto i thought you just turn on the ignition and coding is automatic.

not my specialty but think i've read here somewhere that an engine ecu (so long as it hasn't been used before) will download all the info and code itself to that vehicle on first start. You sure that ECU is 'virgin' ?

a new or remanufactured ecu will code itself to the car at first key-on- if the ecu was connected to another car (for a short test) it is useless for another car from that moment on.
Are you sure the ecu was ordered for you and not in stock on the "as good as new" shelf?
