General starter motor are they different

Hi I have a marea weekend 1.6 automaic and the starter motor has gone.I have been told the starter motor for a auto is different to a mannual does any one know weather this is true thanks steve

i doubt they are different because the starter motor is connected to the engine, not the transmission, and the system used to prevent starting when not in P is nothing to do with the starter motor itself.
