Hi everyone,

Just looking for some expert advice!
My Punto has started making some squeaking noises from the front of the car. These are intermittent noises usually lasting for about 30 seconds then going away for a little bit, they happen whether I'm doing 50mph or idle.
I began to think it was the radiator fan when my car started overheating, but when the fan was full-blast it didn't make the noise. The squeaky noise does seem to be at random times. It can happen 30 seconds into my journey for a minute then I wont hear from it again for another 5 minutes or so.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

First place to look is timing belt. Check its condition and after a run, touch the pulley wheel. If its hot, the belt is slipping and needs tensioning. Remember the timing belt controls the water pump so can directly relate to an over heating problem.

Thanks very much for the suggestions guys.
I'll check those out and I'll post back if I find out what the issue is.

that sounds like the noise the cambelt tensioner makes when its on its way out.
