Technical Oil filter leak

1.7 Diesel P reg, noticed a puddle of oil under my van, started engine and oil dripping out between the oil filter and housing.
Due an oil change so I did an oil and filter change but oil still dripping exactly the same.
I have tried undoing the filter and tightening up again, I smerared some oil on the seal but still leaking.
Any ideas can't really use the van until it's fixed?

The rubber gasket on a new oilfilter should be oiled with fresh oil before mounting!
If you didn't, the seal maybe broken.
Try a new filter ( they are not expensive) and clean the engine housing, were the seal connects, very carefully!
Just turn it as tight as you can with your hands, don't use any tools to tighten the new filter.

I took the filter off cleaned the housing, checking for damage, oiled a new filter with fresh oil fitted hand tight just like you said.

Ran the engine and was fine no leaks, drove the van today to the shops and back leaked at home on start up, leaked at the shop, leaked when I came home.
The filter was from a well known high street shop, can anyone suggest anything.
Too high oil pressure?
Going for it's MOT tomorrow so will ask the garage to have a look at it.
