Recently had the cam belt and tensioner changed on my 1.6 auto and the engine seems to be noisier now especially when accelerating. Has anyone experience of this specific problem? I am wondering whether the mechanic has managed to jump a tooth on the exhaust cam. If so how easy is it to remove the belt and start again from scratch, i.e. without the benefit of locking the cams with the old belt in place?

sounds like the timing is out, if you've paid someone to do it - go back and tell them you're not happy
