Technical from bad to worse help plz

not only did i stuff my rear quarter panel now my gears are gone the garage said i need a gearbox remote selector thingy they wont get me one from a scrappy or fiat and i have no idea how to obtain one or dismantle one off a cinq...i cant afford fiat prices neither advice would be much appreciated...p.s is that part expensive:bang:

Haynes or Porter manual and scrapyard. I'm not entirely sure what they mean by a "remote selector thingy". How it works is that there's a selector mechanism in the gearbox which is connected by cables to a box which sits under the gearlever.

If you know which Cinq we're talking about, there are people breaking them in the classifieds. A pic of an oily finger pointing to the part required would help.

New -- fairly expensive. From a scrappy, very cheap. Easy DIY job.
