Technical Exhaust pipes and engine mounts.

The box on the mid section is leaking badly all around the inlet pipe. It looks as though the pipe is loose in the metal of the end of the box, not that it's rusted out.

The man at National said "That's a problem with the engine mounts causing that".

Is he likely to be right?

No, the joints on these exhausts usualy break rather that rust. Its a common problem as the exhausts get older. Often caused by going through a puddle.

Bah. Thanks. I suppose the pipe end is swaged into the box. Any reasonable fix? I again suppose that the box is full of baffles, so I can't shove a steel rod down it an peen down the joint! New mid section...
