Technical Distributor leads to which plug?

I am about to try and start the car after a 5 or 6 year restoration. All is set to go but I want to confirm that the HT lead from the distributor (marked as “1”) goes to the cylinder nearest to the rear of the engine (bumper end, not the gearbox end). I can’t find. Any reference to this in all of the manuals that I have.

Looking at your distributor Chris, 1 plug lead is at the top of the distributor cap and 1 at the bottom----the BOTTOM lead goes to the REAR plug. If your car goes as well as it looks,it should be a 'little beaut'---well done.

Thanks Tom, all sorted. It was around the wrong way, reversed now and all set for a ceremonial startup on Mother’s Day next Sunday. Here’s hoping.....
