Technical Boot Light

Hi i have a mk1 punto 60s and it had no boot light i found the cables and got a new light but there is no power coming to it (have tried with a meter) is there something that hasnt been connected as its the most basic model lol no power steering or elec windows etc all fuses are good which makes me think that the cable isnt connected somewhere can anyone help? Thanks
