Technical auto headlights and wipers function

Hi
Can anyone tell me how i can turn on the auto headlights and wipers function? Ive tried everything even tried to follow instruction in the car manual. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Auto headlights: With lights OFF, ignition key at position 2, battery light on, no other - press button on left hand stalk for more than 2 seconds. There will be a "bong" confirming the operation.
Auto Wipers: Leave ring on R/H stalk one up from bottom. I may be that this option needs to be activated using a diagnostic tool, such as Examiner, Peugeot Planet 2000 or Lexia.

I have followed the steps on the headlights and nothing seems to happen? Do you think it might need activating on the ecu? The car is going to garage tomorrow for diagnostic on airbag so i will the mechanic. Thanks anyway

Ask him while he's at it to look at both auto headlights and at auto wipers.
