Ok coming up to 90k on my 2004 8v active sport so time for a timing belt change
What's the best kit?
I assume belt, pretensioner and water pump but while I'm in there should I do camshaft seal or anything else? (I replaced the alternator belt 6 months ago).

If its still oil.tight

I would leave it ..

As you say Belt and tensioner kit...Gates get a good name

Waterpump... look in the 500 section for current recommendations

My 1242 will need all this soon too.

while its drained I am doing the thermostat too ;)

I think there's a slight leak from the red/brown seal (camshaft?). It collects as a drop under the sump?
I've also planned thermostat and temperature control sensor while it's drained.
Do you know the actual Fiat part number for the kit?
I found a couple of "genuine" fiat kits online but they had different numbers!
Also, do I really need to remove the engine mount to do it?
I only have the cars own jack to do the job!

If you are going to do some of your own car maintenance I would strongly advise getting a trolley Jack and some form of axle stand. I often use large wood blocks in preference to my axle stands but whatever method you use you need to work safely. Even putting a wheel you have removed under the car could save you getting crushed ( assuming the wheel is a decent width) if the worse happens.

Do not trust the jack supplied with the car.
