Technical 2000 (W) Punto sump pan oil leak

Hello again Fiat Forum - I need someone to give me some sound advice again.
I've just collected my Punto mk. 2 8v from the local garage after a timing belt change, and they tell me that the sump pan is corroded - cost for replacement £280. I can buy a replacement sump & sealant kit for about £50. I'm no expert, but quite happy to get the spanners out.
Is it REALLY that difficult to fit, or are they just taking the p*ss? Thanks!

£280 is way too much, that sort of job would cost about £60-70 including parts at most garages.

its an easy job front part of exhaust off, then just a load of 10mm (socket size) nuts n bolts.
give your new sump a few coats of old type of hammerite before fitting
