Does anyone have a picture or knowledge on how the lower bracket that holds the alternator onto the engine block (not the top adjuster) as my camper has a snapped bolt going through it I am going to have to remove it by removing this bolt if it is possible. Any knowledge on this is greatly appreciated

Billycamper,

Please carefully read you initial post in this thread, and confirm that it says what you meant to say.

I am attaching a link to the appropriate section of an online version of Fiat eLearn. However this section of eLearn is rather simplistic to put it mildly.

Others have struggled to remove the alternator after the bolts have been removed. You may have some luck with the forum search function using the search terms "2.8jtd alternator removal" or "x244 (x230?) alternator removal".

Hi yes thats right. See the bolt that goes through the 2 lower brackets has snapped so I can't remove that I have no alternative but to remove the bracket off the engine block.
Mmive removed 1 nut with a 15mm head but it still won't split from the block. I'm assuming there's more bolts but the diagram even only shows 1. Any help greatly appreciated

This is the bracket in question. I e removed 1 15mm headed nut. The other appears like a Allen key head bolt and then I have one left underneath
is this right please not this is someone else's pic just to show the bracket. If anyone's removed thus can you confirm what bolts hold it in place. I can see 3 holes and have removed 1 so far.

really not sure, its a 2.8jtd in a ducato 2003 lwb.
looking at your other thread you have your gearbox off and mine is identical/, i dont suppose youd be kind enough to take a picture of your lower alternator mounting bracket im going to have another go at getting it off later.
thanks for the reply.

This isn't my gearbox, it's a picture from internet.

Thanks anyway I've just wored it out somebody replaced a 15mm head with a 8mm hex head sorted now thanks everyone.

Guess I spoke to soon.i presume the previous repairer has loc-tited this bolt in perhaps they snapped the other and helicoiled it. In a bit of a pickle now had a 8mm bit through a combo spanner then from the top ive had a bar on it it feels like it wants to break free but I believe its going to round if I apply to much.
Would my only option be to cut the long alternator mount bolt then punch it through from the wheel arch? I'm going to need a grinder
Happy days
