I will be changing the cam belt on my Tempra 1.9 TD. Should I also change any tensioners while I'm doing it. Any observations welcome. Cheers

It's always worth replacing the fixed & movable tensioners - they come in the cam belt kit anyway! I paid around £35 for my kit last year from a motor factors.
Loosen the 6 little torx bolts surrounding the big crank pulley bolt, don’t remove them, just crack them loose. Turn the crank using a 19mm socket on the bolt until the nick in the pulley and the notch on the timing belt cover line up. Now remove the torx bolts along with the pulley – it won’t turn the crank trying to crack those bolts if they’re already loose.

Use Tippex to mark the crank & cam pulleys & identify the marks before you loosen the tensioners. That way you can see them easily.
Job is straightforward: there's plenty of room. Worst thing is tensioning the bleeding polyvee alternator belt afterwards!

Always replace the tensioners! Its generally the cause of timing belt failure.

Cheers. I have just found that out for myself!! Will be getting a cambelt kit and replacing the knackered pulleys.(y)
