Hi all

Has anyone a engine harness / ECU connector diagram for a 1.6 SPI Tempra / Tipo?

Hoping to fit the engine to my X1/9 shortly...

If there is a page with the ecu connector pins a scan of would be awesome Charlie. The Ebay manuals I suspect are all rip offs anyway...

I have a Bravo 1.6 MPI diagram but I suspect this is an entirely different engine (not the Lampredi engine) and the wiring connector pins will be different compared to the SPI engine anyway???

I've always stuck to the 8v FIRE models in the past...

I have got a pdf copy of the manual but the wiring diagram I need is not legible due to the poor quality... :( I will buy one

OK,
the LP manual has this ;

Tipo 1600 DGT Digiplex electronic ignition,
small single diagram covering =

control unit, lead connection ( H.T.?),Diagnostic socket.
let me know if this is what you want,
I hate electrics.. so this doesn't mean MUCH to me.. however ,
here are a pic or 2 !! ;)
a SCAN could take more time / effort.. = let me know if this needs scanning,

pics look o.k.to me ( upside down..:D)

Thanks for those Varesecrazy

I 'Think' i need page 160? With the ECU on it, 35 wires or something coming from it. I have the pdf but cant make out all the info.

I am bidding on a Lindsay Porter Manual on ebay currently so fingers crossed.

Iv got all the bits in a box minus the lambda sensor, which I will order when i know exactly what type of plug it needs and how many wires it has... apart from that it'll hopefully be an easy swap. fingers crossed. I'm no experts with electrics either but i'm learning a huge amount from the X1/9.

I think there are more X1/9's about than Tempra's & Tipo's....

A quick count on howmanyleft.com and there are about 93 Tempras left!!! of any trim/engine spec!!!

300 Tipo's are left, both future rare classics...

cheers

Jeremy

no problem.(y)

I've got a 4 wire Lambda from my 2.0 tempra sat here ;)

the wiring diagram that APPEARS to have an ECU plan ,
is Bosch Monomotronic SPI = tipo 1372s = 1.4 engine

let me know if you want pics of that schematic..!!

Hi Charlie

Yes its been very useful. Almost got the engine fitted and running over a weekend - 27hrs working on the X1/9! Painted some areas of the engine bay and also had to modify the X1/9 engine mount slightly. I have yet to finish the electrics though.

The original Porter manual circuit diagrams do have poor print quality so no wonder the wiring colours are illegible on the pdf... It is readable in the book though.

It was definitely page 160 i need.

An update...

The x1/9 with tempra 1590cc engine has now been on (and off) the road for 6 months. The most troublesome thing was the cooling system. Some awkward reducers, t pieces and menders were required with a bit of trial and error...

Wiring wasn't too bad. After I realised that one of the earth straps I'd connected was actually a live battery connector :) which I then fitted to the starter live :)

Lindsay porter manual was helpful in problem solving. I've still to sort out the oil pressure and rev counter gauges.

It's MUCH more economical than the Webber'd 1500 engine. Not a great deal more powerful though, but it's fine.
