As some of you know, I inherited my Parents 93 Tempra 2.0 SX SW about 18 months ago, as I had too many cars I lent it to a buisness partners fathers as his Peugeot 405 estate had failed its MOT & he was stranded.

It was possibly one of the best Tempra`s left in the country when I gave it to him, it had also done around 78,000 miles.

During the snow last Feb he had an off & managed to bend the downpipe, this still hasnt been done.

Then he left a wet iron bar on the back seat, which has left a perminant brown stain on the base.

Then a few months ago he came out of his flat to find a lorry had turned too close to the offside & the lorrys box had gone down the rear wing & door...

The other driver left the scene & no one got its details...

The wing has sustained paint damage & a slight dent, but the door is destroyed, its actually protruding into the cabin. Amazingly it still opens & closes fine.

And to top it off, some kind person decided he didnt like its wiper & bent all of them....

If anyone knows of a white Tempra or Tipo being dismantled, or one thats been sitting on someones drive for a long time, or, one thats going cheap in the London & the home counties, PLEASE let me know!

Its also now done 93000 miles.

Really upsetting. We had a TD saloon, a pic of that is my avatar and there are some more of that car and the Marea together in my gallery .I got it at auction ex Fiat fleet 11 months old. It was still mint when I gave it to my daughter after 5 years and it ran on there till it was 11 or 12 and then they sold it. I loved that car it was fast economical roomy and handled brilliantyl once it got some decent shocks on it, and the turbo had a restrained but purposful whistle.

I put new shocks on mine about 2 years ago & it still understeered like a bugger, especially on tight roundabouts, even in the dry (with accompanying screeching)!

I`ll change the OS wishbone (did the NS & roll bar bushes with the shocks 2 years ago) & get it 4 wheel tracked when i get it back.

It is upsetting, although the friend who`s been using it was diagnosed with terminal cancer a few weeks ago, which puts it into perspective.

We got no Tipo and no Tempra. I would love a Tempra. i think they are great. Shame about yours though. the damage looks nasty. Good luck with it.

Its not bad damage, it only damaged the door, the thing is its very hard to find Tempra`s Tipo`s or any other Fiat older than 15 years in London scrap yards (thanks to the environmental protection agency closing all the good breakers down in the last decade).

I`d been looking for another one for the last 3 months, then a couple of weeks ago I had a bit of luck, I found a white Tipo doner in an old school scrapyard 35-ish miles, here it is:

Here it is in the boot of my Panda:

And heres a 2.0 auto saloon that was there:

could you post where the tempra/ tipo are, as i'm 35 miles from london, regards john

OK, I`ve decided I`m going to have to scrap her. I`ll be removing stuff I think I can use or resell before she goes, if theres anything you need that I might forget to remove, let me know in the next week.

Bye bye Tempra, thanks for the last 17 years, you did Fiat proud.

:(

Really sorry to hear that - is it worth posting in the Tipo forum to see if 1. they have the bits you need to fix or 2. you have any parts a Tipo owner might want?

Cheers Hellcat, I am gutted, I did intend to restore it when my parents have it to me a couple of years ago (not that it needed much) & give it back to my Dad because he regularly points out to everyone how much he prefers the Tempra to the new Volvo V50 they`ve now got, but I had virtually no luck locating the parts I needed to do it.

But all thats pretty much irrelevent now, I dont have the time, space or money to put her back to new condition from her current condition. Its not that she needs a huge amount even now, but stuff like trim has proved to be impossible to find.

(n) Has anyone offered to buy it as a whole car?

No B20b25, a few enquiries, but no ones actually come to look at it & I need her gone before the tax runs out.

I dont suppose that tipo is still in that yard, and do you have the details,
Really still interested in the old estate as a whole if it still is.
either to repair, or to use to repair my mums tipo if no other donors appear. should be able to collect before end of the month. let me know a price!

I will try to post some pics of my spare blue Tipo interior over the weekend... need to have a bit of a clear-out from the loft.

Thanks, but I dont have the time to restore it now, but someone else might want the seats.

Sorry for the delay TOV, Its now SORN`d, I havent had time to start breaking it, but I intend to soon, but if you want the whole thing, send me a PM ASAP.

Cheers

Nobody drives my Tempra. All I need is the rear bumper.... Hard to find, and I damaged mine...:-(
