About 2.0 litre Tempra petrol engine

Was the 2.0 engine with multipoint injection, like the 1.8, or was it single point? I ask because it seems to me that, despite bigger displacement, there is very little power increase.

Re: About 2.0 litre Tempra petrol engine

it does seem a bit odd, but then looking at the 1.4's and 1.6's the power isn't that different on the same set ups.

also would the 8v have the balance shafts and belt as fitted to the tipo 2.0 16v? i think that saps some power? can't find any reference to what system these engines use though?

Don't know about fuel injected 1.4s and 1.6s, but carb 1.4 had 75 HP while 1.6 had 86 HP, so at least a 10 HP difference, while 1.8ie had 110 HP and 2.0 had 113 HP as far as I know.

maybe it's just been detuned for reliability? maximum power is at a lower rpm, but then max torque is at a higher rpm.

Both the 1.8 & 2.0 has multipoint injection, not single point.

It also has the ballancing shaft set up & I`m pretty sure the 1.8 does too.

Its basically an 8 valve version of the Lancia Delta/Thema Turbo engine without the turbo.
