Posts: 1 Thanks: 0 Trader Rating: 0 | EGR and CAT Hi Guys I have a 03 1.9D.......recently a considerable amount of white smoke came out of the back upon starting....result cat blown to pieces....could a faulty EGR cause this please. Rgds

Anyway...Usually white smoke means waters being burnt, meaning either the head gaskets gone, the head or possibly the block is cracked or if its a turbo model, the turbo cooling system leaking. With the value of Tempras & Tipos being so low, its probably not worth the fix unless you already have the parts spare & your doing the work yourself. If you really dont want to part with her, it might be worth getting a later crash damaged TD Fiat (I understand the engine was used till recently) & swapping the whole engine & gearbox over. Good luck with it.
