(T) speedo doesnt work lol

my dads tempras speedo doesnt work so hes driving way to slow to avoid speed cameras haha.the rev counter works but thats it. any ideas?

The speedo is electronic and the wire runs from a plug at the back of the gearbox which can be easily damaged. Check it for fraying.

There are both mechanical bowden cable and electronic types fitted to the Tempra according to the model.

On the cable type the inner is usually broken, you should hear a "ticking" noise as the broken ends go round in the cable.

If its the electronic type, check that the connector on the gearbox is in place and the wires are not broken. Fiats are renown for electrical problems, check the wires in the connector have not rotted that's a common thing on older fiats.
