Hi guys , I've done countless hours of research on this to no avail so thought I'd ask here,

I have a 2002 1.2 8v mk2 punto but the head gasket blew, so I switched the engine for another I found on eBay.
Turns out I bought a 2006 engine as I was only looking at engine codes when purchasing, only differences were the be fine mount and a different map sensor plug so we switched the original inlet manifold onto the newer engine,

Other than that everything else matched up and works fantastic
Only issue is that the engine struggles to start hot , will take 3 to 5 attempts to 're start and stinks of fuel
Also it's liable to cut out if it's been idling a while when hot

So far we've tested or changed the following
Plugs
Leeds
Coil.packs
Cam sensor
Crank sensor

But no joy , we opened it up.today to look at the valve clearances but the head is completely different to what we expected

I know I'm starting to clutch at straws but I feel 5he ecu may be to blame as there's a few small differences between the engines and that may be the issue ?

Has anyone any experience with this issue ?
Thanks in advance
