Hi all, can anyone tell me where the engine number can be found on the 1600tc, can't find one anywhere

I'm getting confused now and that doesn't take much
, another member on here mentioned that it was on the block just above bell housing, which dose seem very odd place to put an engine number especially when there is about 25mm between block and bulkhead/firewall, thus making it impossible to read it, around oil filter housing would have made more sense and I'm sure I checked both sides of block and couldn't see anything:bang:, will check again

Many thanks Al, you're a star, after a bit of wire brushing and spirit wipe, shazam
a nice shiny engine number appeared, 131B1.000 with the 7 digit engine number below, it's just to the right of oil filter housing and immediately above the engine mount bracket.
Well done.

It may seem odd, but it's a fact that many Fiat engine numbers are located exactly there.I'm getting confused now and that doesn't take much
OP asked about the engine number on a Fiat twin cam which on the 131 is mounted in-line or longitudinally in the engine bay.
SFB's picture shows a SOHC engine which is usually mounted transversely in the engine bay.
So either description of engine number location can be correct, just depends on whether it's a DOHC or SOHC engine and which way round it's fitted in the engine bay.
