My daughter's punto has a number of codes come up on the diagnostics reader including 'Gear level sensor 1 of 4' - now does anyone know what the hell that one means - we've tried to find out but can't seem to find an answer?????

The others were - Steering angle sensor NGE (which i assume means it needs a new one) So expensive lowest so far was £133!

And 1st + 2nd level drivers airbag resist (which i assume means the whole steering wheel centre needs replacing - as the horn and controls on the steering wheel don't work either).

Thanks

Hi,:)
worth getting a second opinion before ordering unnecessary parts,

ideally you'd want the actual CODE ( not the written meaning - as that changes from manufacturer to manufacturer..)

we tend to use and recommend MultiECUScan .. and it's quite affordable..

with steering wheel control I'm assuming it's a 2006 on punto..?? and a dualogic..?

It's a 58 plate semi-auto Punto Grande Eleganza. I don't know what machine was used as I wasn't there when the diagnostic was done.

Where is the car based..it may be close to a member with MES.

The steering wheel..has it just stopped..or never worked for you...??
The car is in Herefordshire. The stuff on the steering wheel has never worked since my daughter's had the car. It appears the whole unit on the steering wheel has been stuffed back into the centre of the steering wheel as it has a gap all around it.

Is it the correct wheel? Possible that the previous owner got hold of a higher spec wheel, fitted it and then found none of the extras will work. There have been queries about this sort of 'upgrade' on here.

Wheel controls will only work with the correct radio, and if they were there when Fiat manufactured the car. You can delete stuff later, but not add it. Might be worth asking if he has the original wheel in his loft/shed, etc.
