My 2003 Stilo occasionally cuts out whilst driving - there's nothing that seems to cause it or any reason for it - has anyone had a similar problem?
It will be going along absolutely fine and then the rev counter drops and it beeps saying loose connection and just cuts out.
The first time it did this I was whizzing along the M5 and had to roll over onto the hard shoulder. Turned it off then on again and it was ok.
The worst it has been has been cutting out about 10 times over a 1 mile stretch!!
At the weekend it also told me it had a car security failure as well as loose connections.
All the connections have been cleaned and checked to make sure they are not loose so I have no idea why it could be doing it.
It also went a bit crazy at the weekend where the temp gauge leapt to boiling and it beeped saying high coolant temp and almost conked out then it dropped back to the middle and was fine.

Any ideas on what could be causing this? I know Fiats are renowned for their iffy electrics but this is my 2nd stilo and I do like them - I just can't trust it to get me anywhere without breaking down!

I'm not hugely car savvy and my dad usually helps me with my car but we've tried the obvious cleaning of the connections which solved the problem for a few months but it seems to be back again.

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions!
