Hey guys!
Not sure if this is a hundred percent the right place to ask, but struggling to find answers anywhere really.

Essentially, I'm a little bit mad, and my tastes are questionable at best, and I want to put a bosozoku style exhaust (tip) on my lil Fiat. I think it would look pretty mean once the car is lowered and rolling about on some nice wide wheels.

Essentially it would be two metal pipes welded which would bolt on to the exhaust (so I can take them off easily and stuff).
I know there's laws and stuff regarding where exhausts can exit (behind front wheel, etc.), but I can't seem to find anything concrete on whether or not this would be legal. Obviously it would protrude out the back of the car more than a stock exhaust, but does that matter?

So, anyone know? :)

What others might throw into those pipes....(not to mention rain and roadsalt...)

Well I'm hoping people wouldn't chuck stuff into the pipes (can't control that though, I know!), but that's a good point that I hadn't actually considered.

As for rain and the like, I'm gonna have slits or a hole to let the rain out the bottom of the curve.
It's obviously a bit of a niche style though so I'm not sure what others have done.

Could be a insurance risk/claim regarding pedestrian injury. (n)

You parked in queue at lights engine running. Person passes the rear of your car and in front of another parked behind. Person falters/jumps grabs their eye and screams in sudden pain!

Yeah, that's a good point! that's the sort of thing that bothers me slightly. Also I'd imagine something like that would do some neat damage if somebody gave you a big enough bump from behind.

I think I'll keep researching. Otherwise get it just for shows, etc. I'll mock a quick one up and see how far we're talking of it sticking; won't be more than a towbar for example.

Damn my DIY mods.

Also I've just figured that I bet the moment I put that on, the odds of me being pulled by the police probably skyrocket too!

Well, for show only as the drag would be too high, you could run a large bright chrome vertical truck style exhaust with exit flap. For special effect you could add a flamer.

If trucks can legally run these vertical above cab exhausts then I see no reason why you can't. A nice "smiley" on the flipping flap for good measure :)

Only downside I can think of is that real *big* rig truckers will assume you are taking the **** and treat you like some motorists treat speed humps......smoother taken at speed!

Aha yeah, and I don't think my tiny car is much match for an actual truck somehow!

Might stick with my current DIY scatty one, I think! :yum:

Thanks for the advice, folks. :D
