I've got a 1.2 500, 2008. Does anyone know if it is possible to swap the original cylinder head for one from a 1.4?

My guess would be that they're identical, but ePER (or a friendly FIAT parts dept) would give you a sure answer. I'd have thought that the 1.2 would be easier to get s/h?

The original is an 8v? If so, there's no easy way to do it. Pistons (at least) are completely different.
