I've recently fitted a new set of plastic wheel trims to my 58 plate Punto, and they have developed a creaking noise which can be heard when at crawling speed. I have removed the cable ties, thinking they may be rubbing, but they still creak.

Hi,
got any photo's ( so people know which style trims),

never had this issue myself ( but most of my FIATS have "bolt-on" trims)

Steel wheels flex. Fiat avoid noisy or lot trims by attaching them with the wheel bolts. Other manufacturers allow the trim to flex, with a spring ring inside which also attaches it to the wheel.
Different wheels have different rim profiles and aftermarket trims cannot fit all properly, which is why so many are in hedges. If yours are squeaking, without cable ties they will soon go quiet, as they go awol. With cable ties, you can't get them off if you get a puncture, especially in the dark and raining.

They're basic plastic, click on wheel trims with a steel retention ring inside. They went on simple enough, but creak when at crawling speed. I took the cable ties off last night to see if that would help, but no improvement
