firstly hello to all i just found your site looks good and hopefully very helpfull

ok i have a 1990 lmc 6400 motorhome lhd it has a 2.5 fiat diesel non turbo i would like to fit the peugeot 2.0lt HDI engine in it for the economy as this 2.5 sucks at fuel economy the later ducato vans have hdi engines fitted but has anyone done this conversion and was it successfull and if so any problems etc

im a mechanic by trade and im good with the hdi engine etc the only thing im not to hot on is dam electrics lol

question
can i get a stand alone wireing loom to run the hdi engine dose anyone know of were to buy or make one

we love the motorhome but hate the fuel prices

iv looked for a 2.5 td engine on ebay etc for over a year and have yet to find one (even a knackered one to rebuild ) as this would be the obvious answer as i suspect the 2.5 td engine would be more economicl to run
so if anyone has one for sale please let me know

cheers drew

sorry for delay what with work and all

on a trip to spain various terrains

hilly areas and mountains 14 mpg

the best iv managed on toll roads driving conservativly 21 mpg

emission test is 1.78 % so that is low and no diesel leaks or diesel smells and engine runs like a top if all abit gutless

so main problem is not much power and juicy
i know its a big motorhome but i still think that is bad

Hi all, I see that this post is 4 years old... but maybe someone out there can help me. I have my first motorhome 1993 Fiat Ducato 2.5TD Iveco engine 8140.27 and 15-20mpg max. However I have smelly exhaust fumes. Engine when cold produces a little bit of a smoke but start like a clock no problem.
Refurbished all 4 fuel injectors 2 months ago...
Any other ideas where problem may be??? Roto pump, cylinder compression - valves???

Thanks in advance for any thoughts...

A Diesel engine will often be smokey on initial start up and settle to almost nowt as it warms up. What smoke/smelly do you have when warm?
