3rd year service on my Stilo 1.6 Active - I have had my car serviced at a non fiat garage and still have the service due light showing - does anyone know how i can reset it?

I was advised by the vauxhall garage that FIAT are the only one's who can reset this message ?

Advice please?

Re: Help on 3 year service on my Stilo 1.6 - need to reset the service due warning

As far as I know, you've been told the right thing - it has to be a FIAT dealer to turn off the light/message

Have to say, I was plesantly surprised as my 3 yr/36k service (at 26k) on my JTD was less than I expected (y) how much were you on yours?

Re: Help on 3 year service on my Stilo 1.6 - need to reset the service due warning

There's lots more independant garages now that can extinguish the service light

Ring around, I have two indies within 5 miles of where I live who can blow out the candle

Why did you get it done at a vauxhall garage:confused:

Err... let me guess :chin: Price perhaps and the fact that the vehicle is now out of warranty? My 36K & MOT cost £280 and that was without a pollen filter change  thought my Nissan Serena was expensive on main agent servicing... only a few K off the 48K/4 year service and think thats dearer still

Free to take it wherever you desire, personally i'd rather have my car serviced by technicians trained & working on these cars daily,no offence to vaux techs if I owned a vauxhall i'd take it to them.

Funny that T, I had a Vectra which had an ABS light on. Two Vauxhall dealers diagnosed ecu & abs unit faults although they had not got clear readouts from the diagnostics. Each wanted £980 each. I got an abs block for £75 and replaced it and bingo, all sorted. You Fiat chaps take some unfair stick but I can't recommend Vauxhall techs at all.

Re: Help on 3 year service on my Stilo 1.6 - need to reset the service due warning

I'd second that. We had our very first Stilo serivced by Vauxhall technicians as, surprise surprise, we bought it at a Vauxhall garage. Got it home, had engine low pressure lights. Checked the oil level and it didn't register on the stick

Walked to the shops in the afternoon and noticed my tarmac lane was covered in stains as was the drive; the oil filter was loose and oil was leaking from the car. Rang the service department, they said it wasn't their concern as the car had left their premises  !!!

In the end we rejected the car too as we noticed that it had had the whole passenger side resprayed and the paint was peeling (there was a strip of masking tape left on next to the rear light cluster too!).

Got our current 5dr then, but had to wait 2 weeks for it so we had a Stilo to rag around in :D

I'll be fair though & say that fiat dealers sell other makes of cars so if buying a non-fiat make sure it has been checked properly.
Unfortunally here comes a problem....sales dept have a small repair budget for each car so how much of a check has a non-fiat had? Thankfully (hopefully?) most techs come from other franchises(seems to be the case especially for fiat)and are normally ok with other makes.

Re: Help on 3 year service on my Stilo 1.6 - need to reset the service due warning

My service as you guessed it - ran out of its warranty.
The service was carried out by a family friend (hence going to another dealership)
Cheap as chips and reliable (Apart from resetting the service warning light)

Charged £20 for resetting Service due

I had my 2nd year Service last Year, but due to cost restraints I had to go to a non Fiat Garage. Not a problem as they are alot cheaper, however the garage is unable to reset the Service Due indicator, so since last September I've had the service due message popping up on me dash when I've started my car.

My car wheel started juddering everytime I was braking, so I'm thinking brake issue. I drive 50 miles round trip mon-fri so I thought I've got to get this checked out. I went to AMC in Chelmsford as my Fiat Garage which was at the top of my road is now a Toomeys and they dont carry out warranty work, only do services and the other Garage in Grays has closed down ! Anyway they checked my car and indeed it's my brakes, of which I need a new pair of front discs and pads. The nice people at the garage told me this will be £286, of which £105 is labour and fitting ! I told them I was unable to pay for this and I would go to a non fiat Garage. They said they could reset my service due indicator for £20, of which I paid for. Now my point is, A, should I really have had to pay for this and B, if not can I write to Fiat claiming this back.

Just in case you were interested :) The non Fiat Garage charged me £100 less and they are in Southend. So I have decided as my 3yr warranty is up in July I'm not going to bother with driving up to Chelmsford I'm just going to pop into my local garage instead who are DG Serving in Priory Park (sorry for the plug)

Re: Charged £20 for resetting Service due

I think £20 is fair enough as well - there has to be a nominal fee, otherwise everyone would do the same.

When I had my dealership fit some aftermarket brakes and disks [which I supplied myself], they charged me £65+VAT labour I think, and that included a courtesy car for the day (y)

Re: Charged £20 for resetting Service due

Bloody hell, bargin ... My local fiat stealer(Yeah Thames I talking to you) wanted £90.00 to change a bulb and now want the same to switch my indicator flash on Locking/unlocking on.

Thankfully the nice folks at Lisles fiat (in Welwyn) did it for £16.00 including the bulb!

Re: Charged £20 for resetting Service due

That seems very fair, as many dealers are not too happy about resetting the service computer if the car has not been serviced with them. (could potentially cause all sorts of difficulties over warranty validity etc). Its also important to remember that they took the time to inspect your brakes and price and cost their replacement. Many dealers would have charged an hours labour for this at least.

Re: Charged £20 for resetting Service due

picadilly fiat in wakefield charged me £5 to reset my service indicator what nice people they are (y)

"Service due" message

Hi all.

I bought a used Stilo (53 reg) earlier this week and picked it up today. It was serviced yesterday by the dealers garage, but on the dash when I turn the ignition on it flashes up "Service due" - even though it then proceeds and says "All checks OK"

As it was serviced yesterday, how do I get it to stop bringing service due up, as this isn't the case!

Thanks

James

Re: "Service due" message

FIAT garage or any normal garage (eg, the one where it was services (which wasn't a FIAT garage) )
