Service due light / radio?

Hey peeps, does anyone know how to turn the service light off on a 2004 1.4 stilo.

Also my car has radio/cassette but on the channels 1 and 2 underneath it says 'cd'. does this mean i can fit a cd player in the glove box or so?

Anyone selling a radio cd whats a straight replacement.

#Thanks#

Newbie Stilo gaz..:)

Re: Service due light / radio?

Or you could take the car to any garage with the 'Examiner' equipment. But not that many have them outside of the Fiat dealership network.

The CD changer in the upper glovebox is easy to fit, you need the lead as well and it is simply plug and play. The cassette head unit will recognise the CD changer and you will have full functionality.

Re: Service Due

Mate of mine does it and can reset my counter too He stamps my book and tells me everything if anything that might need doing soon All for 140 notes ;) Cam belt will be next if i keep the car

Re: Service Due

Can I just say (i know this is a bit of a newbie thing) pressed the mode button to the right of the steering wheel today and foud out i have 149 days left of 8000 miles to my next service! So useful knowing this! Especially with my forthcoming roadtrip! Thought i was going to have to have a service earlier than that!

A question on services how easy is it for a garage to reset the service clock? Ill prob have my Stilo serviced at the local garage that ive always used but was worrying if they would be able to reset the clock?

Re: Service Due

....however does anyone know if Nationwide AutoCentres have the necessary equipment to switch off the 'Service Due' message on the dashboard?
Last I checked they couldn't but it doesn't really matter as long they agree to do it as part of the service (that's down to you).

So far my Stilo has had 2 visits to my main dealer courtesy of Nationwide :woot:

Can i resest the "Service Due" notice

I have a 2004 abarth and now it is out of warranty I have decided I am going to service it myself.
Is it possible to reset the notification that shows up when i start the car that says "Service Due" or do I have to take it to a garage?
Thanks Chris

Re: Can i resest the "Service Due" notice

I think, but am not sure, but FIATS need the dealer to do any re-setting... If not maybe a Forum Sticky from the Mods would be useful on all cars made by FIAT and how to do Service or Error code re-sets?

Re: Can i resest the "Service Due" notice

From what I've heard this could only be done with "examiner". At least this is what my mechanic told me, and what i saw in FIAT service.

So this can be done by anyone having "examiner" or maybe similar "car diagnostics computer". It is not expensive, (here they charge 15-30euros) and also can detect and reset any other warnings you have.

Re: Can i resest the "Service Due" notice

my local garage reset mine after I had it serviced (non-fiat garage) :)

But be warned as some people have had their's attempted by garages and it's gone slightly wrong.

yeah, dont risk trying to reset it with any bodge job pice of kit... mines on service due but ive serviced mine myself and will continue to do so, but fiat wont reset it unless you have proof of service by a garage bit of a cache 22,

well worth servicing it yourself:

granted this was on a 1.6 but for around 140 quid managed

All pads and disks all round,
brake fluid change,
flush, oil and filter change,
coolant change
sparks,
pollen filter,
air filter
clean and wax!

bargain

can put up with service due for that price

Re: Can i resest the "Service Due" notice

You really need a Fiat garage with Examiner to reset this safely. Normally costs something like £40. It doesn't take long but most garages will charge a min rate for using Examiner (like 0.5 hour labour charge although some will insist on one hour). For that reason, it's best to get other checks done at the same time since they aren't likely to charge any more.

If you're only going to do your own servicing then a good tip is to ask them to disable the reminder system (which they can do)

Re: Can i resest the "Service Due" notice

Cheers guys! As you say for the price of servicing it myself i can put up with that warning lol x

Re: Can i resest the "Service Due" notice

Just don't bother with getting it reset, i took my car to Arnold Crap, but i was so sick of the laclustre service at the Fiat branch i took the car to the local Volvo branch, they said they would take the car to the Fiat garage for the service counter reset, but funnily enough didn't!

Anyway, i've just driven about with it, it only flashes up for a few sec's on engine start, and you soon get used to ignoring it.
