You tried asking the dealer? Or did they just fob you off. The cost of £103 will obviously include the labour element of the service and the pollen filter.

My dealer always runs through the bills with me before I pay, to see exactly what I got [or more usually, what they have put on order for warranty work]

Well it looks as if I have been ripped off then, good job I complained that much that they dropped the price from £205 to £150, but that probably means I got half the job. So nobody knows how much the 3rd service is then? I want to fit some new brake pads, do I have to buy Fiat ones?

I bought new fiat front discs and brakes for 300.

But then just had some work done on my car and needed new back brakes...they wanted £127 so bought the brakes for £26 from www.ebcbrakes.com and got them fitted for £20.

EBC also make the brake called Green Stuff and Red Stuff if you familiar with them.

had that thing done so your indicators flash when you lock and unlock your car.

3rd year service is due this march here on the stilo, but im thinking of opting for uncle arnolds 41point service instead with mot, its £90 that way, think i'd need to get the pollen filter added ontop of that though.
in the end, if people are worried about dealer service history, its still going to say arnold clark fiat on it

fixed price don't mean they wont forget to check things or say things are broke that aint broke, a favorite one with all makes of main dealer, not just fiat, seems to be telling people that they need new brakes and disks when they don't.

Too right, money for old rope. Had a 2 year old car serviced and got a call from the dealer.

Garage "Hello Sir you need new pads because they are about 60% worn."

Me "Ok I said on that basis I've got another years worth of wear there"

Garage "Oh, Good point."

I have a relative who works in a major garage chain and based on his stories you wouldn't bother taking your car in for any work ever again, unless you want to be ripped off, charged for work that didn't take place, and pay for parts to be put on the employees own cars...I'm beginning to feel this way. My uncle has an MGB and required some work - had it done at a well recommended garage. Charged £800 and decides to check the work. Oops they actually hadn't done a thing, same old parts. In the end they admitted "an error" or "mix up" and carried out the work but most people wouldn't have the time or skill to have checked it and would have been £800 lighter.

Interestingly one of my services which in the book is scheduled for approx 2 hours appeared to take under 1 hour. I dropped off the car at 9:30 and the customer survery left in the car was marked something like 10:26.

had my 1.2 24,000 service at an independent garage who said they could rest the service clock, then drove it to a local fiat dealer who charged £15.00.saved a load on the service cost though .using non dealers isnt a problem as long as they use fiat parts..warranties are unaffected and it didnt seem to affect the trade in value either.
