Got myself a CD changer for my Stilo abarth. I wired it up.

I then turned my Nav+ unit on and the CD changer springs to life in that it lights up. Then all five lights start flashing red then green and the head unit says no CD. I have tried various combinations of inserting CDs, turning on the head unit etc.

The CDs do not eject either so I had to take the top cover off to eject them manually.

Any ideas what the problem is?

I'm guessing it is a dodgy CD Changer :(

HI Mate,

I had this with my stilo cd changer..
There is 2 things you need to do to fix this.
Make sure there is no CD's in the changer..
1. disconnect the CD changer
2. Open the CD changer by removing the top cover.
3. check to make sure all the changer arms inside are in the correct position.
4. along the back of the changer to the right there is a combed vertical thing with a cam that runs up and down depending on the disc
5. make sure that this is in step sometimes gets jamed.
6. re-assemble and connect back up
7. switch on ignition so unit powers up (will probably say no disc again)
8. switch off engine and wait for all the cd changer lights to go off. (approx 2-3mins)
9. switch back on enigine and it should start to reset itself making all sorts of noises.

sorry its a bit sketchy but this has happened to me about 3 times and every time the above has sorted it..

Cd Changer Problems

Hi all

ok I bought a cd changer unit from ebay, it came today plugged it into the back it powered on fine loaded a cd but it didnt play automatic like I thought it would so i presses the button to change source but all that keeps coming up is no tape, have i bought a dud cd unit or is the tape player at fault, I have another tape unit on the way cause the fm stoped working on mine, just incase anyone should ask they are both original fiat stilo spec items i.e original tape player thanks.Jon

I get something similar. Mine just keeps telling me 'Check Disc' and wont even eject discs. For a while I was able to pull the disc out with needle nose pliers, when I put it back in, it would work. Then it took resetting it too (pulling the plug from the back) now nothing seems to work :(

Jedi, I'll give that a go... sounds a little technical mind you... nothing to lose I guess though.

Re: Cd Changer Problems

Sorry but i don't have any clues on your problem. My cd changer is also new (to me) from ebay but flashes red and green. Can't figure out what is at fault.

I assume it's because no code was input but it won't ask for it.

LMFAO very helpful.....not, the red/green flashing means it's jammed or got an internal error. common problem on these which i've heard is due to misalignment of the loading mechanism. not cheap to fix though.

Re: Cd Changer Problems

So, are there any options for getting multi changers fixed? I just tried the taking apart thing and still no better :(

Hi there, the CD changer in my Stilo has been broken for a long time (a year or so), I asked my local garage to look at it, but they said they didn't know much about it (despite being a Fiat garage) and suggested I took it to an ICE place, but they said they'll probably just replace the unit. I decided I didn't care enough about it to fork over too much money, but I saw this post, and after a while messing around trying to get the unit out, and a while tampering, I finally managed to get it working!

In my case the HU claimed it was playing CD5, but the disc reader was set to disc 3 or so, I was trying to work out how to manually lower it down to the bottom by pressing on it, quite lightly, then a little harder, then it pinged and pushed down, I thought I had probably broke it, as it was all loose, but I connected it up and hey presto it reset itself and started playing discs! At first the disc was spinning against something as they spinned, but it turned out the frame on the top wasn't quite in position, pushing it down seems to have fixed that. So for now it all works.

I know this is an old post but just thought I'd say thanks for helping me out.

Steve

Re: Cd Changer Problems

Mine is also flashing Red/Green, I got a couple of discs stuck but got them out gently with some tweezers.

I will try the fix posted above tonight, but has anyone else encountered this problem?

I bought my stilo with the cd changer broken. I removed the disk which was stuck inside and reset all the arms to the correct position.

Now when I turn it on the lights flash red and green. I read that this is an anti-theft mechanism when the battery has been disconnected.

I have the code and my question is...how the hell do I input the code. it is a 5 cd changer and it has 5 numbered buttons, but in the code it has a number 6.

Man I feel inadequate!! Please help me!

Hi the flashing red/green is an error message from the cd changer and the fault is sent to the head unit if you have the standard visteon unit and is displayed on lcd display

you input the code using the head unit buttons 1-6 if your code is 2457 you press

button 1 twice (2)
button 2 four times (4)
button 3 five times (5)
button 4 seven times (7)

simples :D
