Hi, OK.
First, you must download the zip file from link, named majCN98.zip

Then you have to burn in cd the .iso image with format "disc at once 96".

Second, with the connect switch on, insert the disc and then switch off the connect. Wait for 30 seconds. then with the car key in off position, switch on the connect.

Must show the screen with the upgrade progress. When finish, the disc get out from connect and the system will reboot.

That is all

i´m sorry, my english is not very well.

regards

I was wondering what is new in version 9.8. :) Previously i've had ver. 8.5. Benefits : faster reactions on voice commands, better quality of recording voice messages, and the phone conversations.

The one thing whitch was changed and mayby it's not important but usefull : when I was listenig to the radio, and use voice command : CD PLAYER, PLAY - The Connect changed to cd, but cd player didn't started playing. It was necesery repeat command PLAY - now I don't have to :D

The only difference I have noticed in version 9.8 is that the sim card is registered onto your mobile phone network quicker than previous versions.

Option to delete previous callls received & dialled

Place Name in Navigation is automatically selected in relation to your cars position.

Better voice commands

yes, but one thing is still the same. Every time I turn on the Connect and the cd player, it starts playing from the beginnig [V]. I was hopping that it will be changed but it didn't :(

Worked for me.
Not sure of what changes are there yet though.

Does anyone know if its possible to upgrade the phone part?
I'm on T-Mobile but it still says one2one on my screen.

G'day all

I have a 2003 stilo Abarth 2.4

Thanks alot to the 9.8 satnav upgrade on the web. I badgered my local dealership about software upgrades when I saw mention of 9.6 on this forum, and all they said was I had the latest software (8.5)

So thanks again. But I seem to have trouble using the VOX to control the radio. My satnav book uses commands like "radio and "frequency" but the lovely lady in my satnav doesn't like those words.

Was there an update to the command structure as well???

Thanks

Hi.
I noticed that I after actualization to make a phone call I have to say "PHONE,name and SET". And I told "PHONE,name and DIAL" before.

Re: Connect NAV+ 9.8 upgrade CD

Make sure you have the set up cd for your car before doing this!!!!

The firmware upgrade works fine but when it is finished the car talks in Italian!!! You need the set up cd to change it back to English

Cheers

Re: Connect NAV+ 9.8 upgrade CD

Well, just managed mine and it was a piece of p*ss - from 8.3 to 9.8.

I thought it was going to take ages, but only a few minutes. Then put setup disk in to revert back to English - job done :)

I tried to read through the French instructions beforehand [there is Word doc as part of zip file], and decided to take out SIM card as well during procedure - seemed to like it.

Re: Connect NAV+ 9.8 upgrade CD

That zip link file seems to be intermittent, but is working now!

I have a fully working copy on CD-R which is now redundant I presume [do you need it again once 9.8 installed?] - just need to put it into Nav unit and switch on - first UK person to PM me their address, and I will bang it out in the post to you BUT I am off to Eire tomorrow for a week, so may be some delay :)

Re: Connect NAV+ 9.8 upgrade CD

Lalli, did you ever manage to upgrade your system with the CD-R I sent you?

As for extra features, I was on the 8.3 for a matter of weeks before upgrading, but I note straight away that the speed and processing of the map is very much improved, especially when you change the scale.

It is def worth the upgrade, which only takes a matter of minutes to do.

Re: Connect NAV+ 9.8 upgrade CD

No probs, that is what we are here for :)

You need to find software that will burn an iso image, Nero tending to be the market leader/preferred choice by some. It is basically the image you now have sitting in your unzipped folder on your hard-drive - that needs to be transferred to a CD-R.

Not sure what bundle came with your Dell. Never seen Dell Media experience. Real and WMP don't do ISO copies, well, I think they don't.

I know I got Nero as part of my Plextor DVD-R. There must be some more software that came with it? You got a DVD-RW or just CD-RW.

Oh dear, PC World very dear! I paid £18 for 100 Samsung CD-Rs 52x, work a treat and at the price, who cares....

Good luck, let me know how you get on.

Re: Connect NAV+ 9.8 upgrade CD

Hi,

Thanks for the LINK everyone, it downloaded and opened up straight to my burning software!! It even ejected my CD draw and demanded a blank Disc!! Clever these Italians. Anyway all Burnt and my system now upgraded and speaking English again.

Great Forum, Thanks Again.

whats the newest upgrade is it still 9.8, currently on 9.7. and what do you do if you never had the setup disk ,does it depend on what version stilo was shipped with.
Yep, 9.8 is latest version, although I reckon an update must be due soon ish.

I never had a setup disk with mine [I bought it second hand] - my local dealer wanted an arm and a leg for it, so I got someone on here to burn a copy for me ;) - works a treat.

You will need the setup disk to change the language after an update.

Re: Connect NAV+ 9.8 upgrade CD

Hi there. I have just bought (day before yesterday) a 2002 Stilo Abarth. I love it! I am still learning how to work the Connect Nav+ console though. It says it is version 8.3. As I am in New Zealand, the GPS navigation wont work - I don't believe there are any map CD's available (I have emailed Fiat NZ to confirm this). With this in mind, is it still worth upgrading the firmware version to 9.8? And if I do, I don't have any setup CD.......but there is a function in the menus to change the language - even has little flags - does this mean if I do actually decide to upgrade that I wont infact need the setup cd?

Re: Connect NAV+ 9.8 upgrade CD

Hi

I think you will deffo need the setup CD - as soon as you do the upgrade from 8.3 to 9.8, which is worthwhile, the VR goes back to Italian, or something - when you pick English to turn flags back, it then requests the setup disk.

I may investigate a bit further, and see if I can do an iso .zip file of it, and host it on here - it does all depend on the filesize.

Re: Connect NAV+ 9.8 upgrade CD

Yes - I checked out their site too - I guess if I can't use the Nav+ in New Zealand, there is only one thing for it. I will have to move to the UK. Hehe.
I have emailed Fiat NZ about the setup CD (among other things), so I will look forward to a reply tomorrow - being Monday....(wishful thinking?)
The car is great except for a couple of things I haven't worked out yet - I can't work out how to make the mp3 player work (I have posted in the relevant forum), and the cellphone wont work either (will talk to Vodafone in the next few days). My alternator belt appears frayed somewhat.....apart from these, I love driving around in a relatively inexpensive vehicle with all the bells and whistles you could poke a stick at. I thank a good friend for stopping me buying a Toyota Altezza and making me drive (and fall in love with) the Fiat Stilo Abarth 2002.
